Presley Gerber Dies at 27: Remembering Cindy Crawford’s Son

Ekkor:

For most of his life, Presley Gerber lived with a name people already knew. His mother, Cindy Crawford, became one of the most famous supermodels in the world, while his younger sister, Kaia Gerber, later built a successful career of her own. Presley also stepped into the fashion industry, but in recent years he had begun showing the public a much more personal side of himself — one that had little to do with glamorous photographs or designer clothes.

On September 20, 2026, Presley Gerber died at the age of 27. A representative for his parents, Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, confirmed his death. According to official information from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, he died at a rehabilitation facility. His family asked for privacy during what was described as an extremely difficult and painful time.

At the time of the first reports, one important detail remained unanswered: no official cause of death had been announced. An autopsy was still pending, which meant it would have been irresponsible to suggest exactly what had happened or to automatically connect his death with his previous struggles with addiction or mental health.

Growing up in a famous family

Presley was the older of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s two children. Fashion was naturally part of his world from an early age, but when he entered the industry himself, he began building a career in his own right.

His major runway debut came in 2016, when he walked in Moschino’s Los Angeles show. At the time, Presley said that he had started enjoying fashion much more than he had expected. His mother, father and sister were all there to support him.

Later that year, he also appeared on the Dolce & Gabbana runway and continued working with major names in the fashion industry. His modelling career gained international attention, and he was recognised as one of the promising young male models of his generation.

Yet behind the polished photographs and fashion shows, Presley was dealing with difficulties that were largely invisible to the public.

Speaking openly about mental health

During the later years of his life, Presley increasingly talked about depression, panic attacks, addiction and recovery. Instead of presenting himself as someone who had everything under control, he began discussing how complicated and difficult the process could be.

He created social-media posts under the title “Mental Health Mondays” and spoke publicly about his own experiences. Presley explained that if talking openly about his struggles could help even one person going through something similar, then sharing his story would be worthwhile.

He also discussed the importance of exercise, healthier routines and trying to rebuild his life step by step.

By late 2025, Presley was speaking even more directly about what he was going through. He described severe panic attacks and talked about medication and his attempts to find treatment that worked for him. His openness was particularly noticeable because the Gerber family had traditionally kept many personal matters away from public attention.

His younger sister, Kaia Gerber, later spoke about how deeply her brother’s struggles had affected their family. She explained that his problems had changed the family dynamic and influenced her own relationship with her parents. At the same time, she expressed admiration for Presley’s willingness to talk openly instead of pretending that everything was fine.

Those comments now feel especially painful because they were made only a short time before his death.

More than a celebrity son

It would be easy to describe Presley Gerber mainly through the people around him: Cindy Crawford’s son, Kaia Gerber’s brother, or a member of one of fashion’s most famous families. But during the final years of his life, Presley seemed increasingly interested in telling a different kind of story.

He spoke about mistakes. He spoke about recovery. He admitted when he was struggling. And he repeatedly said that sharing those experiences might help somebody else feel less alone.

There is an uncomfortable contrast in Presley’s story. From the outside, he grew up in a world associated with beauty, success, wealth and opportunity. His own words, however, showed that none of those things can automatically protect a person from depression, addiction, anxiety or fear.

His openness also offered a reminder that mental health problems do not always match the image people see from the outside. A successful career, a famous family or a privileged background cannot tell us everything about what someone may be experiencing privately.

For now, many questions surrounding Presley Gerber’s death remain unanswered. The medical investigation has not yet produced a publicly confirmed cause of death, and his family has asked to grieve privately.

What is known is much simpler and sadder: Presley Gerber was only 27 years old.
